Terms & Conditions & Admission Guidelines

Official admission rules, entry test structure & merit calculation criteria.

  1. Application form can be filled and download from NMU website www.nmu.edu.pk.
  2. The candidates will have to submit Bank Draft of Rs. 1500/- (Non-Refundable) to the name of Vice Chancellor Nishtar Medical University, Multan as form and processing fee.
  3. A separate Bank Draft of Rs. 3000/- to the name of Vice Chancellor Nishtar Medical University, Multan will have to be submitted as Entry Test fee. (One entry test fee will be valid for all the applications)
  4. In case of incomplete documents (particularly No Objection Certificate from the competent authority) the application will not be accepted.
  5. Eligibility Criteria: MBBS and One Year House Job
  6. Entry test will be conducted by Nishtar Medical University Multan on 24.09.2026 for admission in diploma course is compulsory (Passing Marks= 50%). Admit card can be collected from student section NMU from 15.09.2026 to 21.09.2026.
  7. Entry Test Format (Total 100 MCQs/Marks): English (15), Research Methodology (10), Computer/IT Skills (10), Analytical Reasoning (10), Medical Ethics (05), Medicine (10), Surgery (10), Pediatric Medicine (10), Obs & Gynae (10), Pathology (10).
  8. The first merit list will be displayed subject to the clearance from SHC&MED. The subsequent lists will be displayed accordingly on the notice board.
  9. Selected candidates will deposit course fee within the due dates. Failure to deposit fee makes selectee ineligible.
  10. No accommodation of any kind will be provided by the university. (Affidavit required).
  11. Final selection list subject to clarification of candidate's employment status by SHC&MED.
  12. Failure to report within 3 days of call letter results in cancellation and next candidate will be called.
  13. Students must pass Diploma in Six (06) years after admission (Max 3 chances for Part-I, max 3 chances for Part-II).
  14. Fee once paid will not be refunded in part or in full.

Merit Calculation Formula

100% weightage to academics. Extra attempts deduct 50 marks. Gold Medal = 5 marks, 1st position = 3 marks (max 10). NMU graduate = 5 marks, other public sector = 3 marks. 1 mark per 3-month relevant experience (max 10 marks). Academic merit weightage is 75% in final merit.

Academic Merit = (Total Obtained − Deductions) ÷ Total Maximum × 100
Final Merit = (Academic Merit % × 0.75) + Medals + Position + Experience + Institution Marks

  8. The first merit list will be displayed subject to the clearance from SHC&MED. The subsequent lists will be displayed accordingly on the notice board. The method of calculation of merit is given on page No.4. The selected applicants will have to receive their call letters personally from the students’ section of this university. (call letters will not be sent by post).
  9. Selected candidates will deposit course fee with in the due dates. Failure to deposit the fee on the due date will make the selectee ineligible for admission. On the production of the deposit receipt the students section will issue class Roll No. to the selectee.
  10. No accommodation of any kind will be provided by the university. (Affidavit of no claim of accommodation shall be Provided by the Candidate)
  11. The issuance of final selection list will be subject to the clarification of candidate’s status of employment by the SHC&MED.
  12. If a selected candidate does not report within three (03) days of issuance of call letter, his selection will stand cancelled, the next candidate on the waiting list will be called for admission.
  13. The students clearly note that they shall have to pass Diploma in Six (06) years after admission (maximum Three (03) Chances availed or un-availed) for Part-I and maximum Three (03) chances for Part-II (availed or un-availed) will be allowed.
  14. Fee once paid will not be refunded in part or in full.
  15. Scheduled dates for admission can be changed in unavoidable circumstances, if necessary by the competent authority.
  16. The candidate admitted for one diploma course and his/ her name displayed in any subsequent admission merit list of another course; if willing he/ she may be shifted along with deposited fee to that course (not after 3rd list).
  17. Any revision/review of the merit list originally prepared can be done if some relevant facts are brought to the notice of the university administration. The case will be referred to the Grievance Redressal Committee. The decision of the committee will not be challengeable in any Court of Law.
  18. Experience in relevant field will be counted up to the closing date of submitting the applications.
  19. The candidates who are in service will have to submit Study Leave/ EOL issued by the competent authority for the whole duration of the course before submission of Admission Fee.
  20. Involvement of student in any type of politics and strikes may cause expulsion from the course at any stage and disciplinary action under PEEDA Act 2006 will be recommended to the Health Department against the students who will be in the Govt. Service.
CALCULATION OF MERIT FOR DIPLOMA ADMISSION
i) 100% weightage will be given to academics.
ii) Total marks obtained by the applicant in all Professional MBBS examination will be added up.
iii) Maximum marks in all the MBBS Professional examinations will also be added up.
iv) For each extra attempt taken to pass the examination, 50 marks will be deducted from total marks.
v) Five (5) marks for Gold Medal, three (3) marks for standing first in any Professional Annual Examination of, maximum 10 marks would be awarded.
vi) Graduate of Nishtar Medical University, Multan would be given 5 Marks and other Public Sector Medical Institution would be given 3 marks.
vii) 1 mark each for 3-month experience after house job in RESPECTIVE FIELDS in Teaching Hospital and DHQ/ THQ hospitals (where consultant of relevant field will certify the experience certificate countersigned by the Medical Superintendent of that hospital). Maximum 10 marks would be awarded. The applicants applying for DMJ will have to submit their experience letter of having dealing with MLCs.
viii) The merit will be calculated as below:
Total marks will be divided by maximum marks and percentage will be obtained. For example, a candidate secured 2800 marks in all the Professional examinations in which maximum marks were 3600 however, he made one extra attempt to pass the MBBS. He has two year experiences in respective fields and he graduated from Nishtar Medical University, Multan:
